Description: The Thompson family is leaving "the jungle", a tumbledown district that is part of a slum-clearance project. The family, Kevin, 15, and Sandra, 14, came to live with their irresponsible Uncle Walter and his companion, Doris when their parents died. The rest of the family are Harold and Jean, Walter's children by a wife who left him. Moving to Westwood Estate, a development project, doesn't reform either Walter or Doris, but it does give a new kind of hope to the children, who hold together because that is all they have.
